Why Build A Deck From Steel?

Most importantly, a Lifespan™ Steel Framed Deck is a safer overall structure than one made of wood or other composite materials. Stronger than decks built from wood that rot and collapse each year, a steel framed deck will save an average of 33 lives in the US each year (according to a published study by Virginia Tech).

  • Dimensionally Straight: Unlike wood or composites that can arrive deformed or wet and warp/shrink, steel parts are dimensionally straight and mechanically connect perfectly, creating a neat and easy to assemble structural system.
  • Non-Combustible:  With a steel structural system you won’t have to worry about stray ashes from a grill or fire pit since steel does not burn or contribute to the spread of fire.
  • Pest Resistant: While insects (beetles, carpenter ants, carpenter bees, and termites) or Marine Borers  will eat through wood or composite construction products, they will not eat steel framing or concrete.
  • Mold Resistant: Moisture does not penetrate steel studs, eliminating the expansion and contraction of construction materials and does not provide a food source for fungus, mold, or other bacteria, protecting the structures integrity.
  • No Maintenance: The steel frame is galvanized for exterior use and requires no maintenance such as annual staining, painting, or waterproofing typically required by wood or composites.
  • Extended Lifespan: Lifespan uses coated steel which has an estimated lifespan of more than 100 years in outdoor conditions while pressure treated wood has an average service life of only 10-15 years.
  • 100% Recycled Material Content:  Lifespan steel material comes from the highest quality Mill certified recycled steel materials providing the highest quality product while minimizing our impact on the environment.
